End of Term 1

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for your incredible support through such a tricky and worrying time.  We appreciate the efforts and challenges families have had to overcome.

At this point in time, Toormina Public School will resume next term under the current conditons on Tuesday 29th April with the majority of students remaining at home with their families as the country and state continue with social isolation arrangements.

Our school will remain open for students of essential workers and our vulnerable families as per the NSW Dept of Education guidelines and request that everyone who can self-isolate, do so with children learning at home either online or through weekly home learning packs provided by our teachers.

At this time, the NSW Police Commissioner has made a media announcement to say that the current restrictions of physical distancing will remain for 90 days and the NSW Premier has said it may continue until we have a vaccine.  This may will continue for most of next term.

We continue to encourage parents who are non-essential services employees to keep their children at home if possible, to alleviate the risk of Covid-19 infection to our staff and the students who must attend school.  Students who do attend school will be welcomed and supported to engage with the same online learning as students who are not at school.

You are all doing a wonderful job!  If you are feeling overwhelmed by this, do not be hard on yourself.  Take a step back and have a break.  We don't expect you to teach your children like our teachers would under normal classroom circumstances.  You all deserve to be congratulated for working with your child at home during this time.

Have a safe and happy Easter.

Stay safe, stay isolated and stay home.

Kind regards,

Matt Hankinson

Principal
